Privacy Policy

Pace Friends helps runners and walkers find people nearby who move at the same pace, either one-to-one or through run groups. To do that we need some information about you, including where you like to start your runs. This policy explains what we collect, why, who can see it, and the choices you have.

1. Who we are

Pace Friends is operated by Michie Dev Solutions, OPC, Taguig City, Philippines (“we”, “us”). For any privacy question or request, email hi@michie.dev.

2. Information we collect

Account information

• Your email address and password (passwords are stored encrypted by our hosting provider, and we can't read them).

Profile information you give us

• First name, last initial and an optional profile photo.
• Gender and age range, used for matching and for women-only options.
• Whether you run, walk or both, your usual pace and how close a pace you're happy to match, preferred distances, and your “vibe” (for example chatty or quiet).
• The days and times you usually like to run, and how far you're willing to travel.

Location

• Preferred route start: the exact point you choose on the map. It's kept private; other people only see a rounded area (about 1 km) and an area name.
• Run plans and meetup points: where and when you plan to run, and the meetup spot you agree with a partner.
• During a run: if you start tracking a run, your iPhone's location is used to record the route, distance and pace. If “Share live location” is on, your position is shared every few seconds only with your run partner or the members of the same group session, and it's deleted when the run ends.

Runs and activity

• Runs you track: date, time, distance, pace and route. You can choose to hide the start and end of your routes.
• Feedback after a run (for example how the pace felt and whether you'd run together again).

Apple Health (only if you allow it)

• With your permission, we read your recent running and walking workouts on your iPhone to suggest your usual pace. Only the resulting pace is saved to your profile.
• With your permission, runs you track in Pace Friends are saved to Apple Health.
• Health data is not used for advertising or marketing, is not sold, and is not shared with third parties except as needed to provide the features above. You can change access at any time in the Health app.

Safety contacts

• The trusted contacts you add (name, phone number and relationship), so you can call or text them from the SOS screen. We only access your iPhone's contacts when you pick one, and only the contact you choose is saved.

Messages and community content

• Messages you send in one-to-one and group chats, run invites, group posts, sessions and RSVPs.
• Reports and blocks you make, so we can keep the community safe.

Purchases

• If you subscribe to Pace Friends Plus, we receive your subscription status (plan, start and renewal dates) from Apple through our subscription provider. Payment is handled by Apple; we never see your card details.

Device and technical information

• A push notification token so we can send you message and safety notifications, if you allow notifications.
• Basic technical data that our providers collect to run and secure their services, such as IP address, device type and app version.

Advertising (free accounts)

• Google AdMob shows banner ads to people on the free plan. AdMob may collect your IP address (to estimate a general location), ad interactions, and crash and performance data.
• If you tap Allow on the iPhone tracking prompt, AdMob may use your device's advertising identifier to show you personalised ads. If you choose Ask App Not to Track, ads are not personalised using that identifier. You can change this at any time in iPhone Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking.

3. How we use your information

• To create and run your account.
• To suggest running partners and groups based on pace, distance, schedule, location and preferences.
• To let you plan runs, send invites, chat, join groups and RSVP to sessions.
• To track runs, show your activity history and milestones, and save runs to Apple Health if you choose.
• For safety features: SOS, trusted contacts, live location sharing and safety check-in reminders.
• To send notifications you've allowed, such as new messages, invites and safety check-ins.
• To manage Pace Friends Plus and apply free-plan limits.
• To show ads to free accounts.
• To keep Pace Friends safe: reviewing reports, preventing abuse, and enforcing our Terms of Service.
• To fix problems and improve the app.
• To meet legal obligations.

4. What other people can see

People you block can't see you or contact you, and you won't see them.

5. Who we share information with

We don't sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers that help us run Pace Friends, under contracts that limit how they can use it:

• Supabase: hosting, database, sign-in and file storage.
• RevenueCat: managing Pace Friends Plus subscriptions.
• Google AdMob: showing ads to free accounts (see section 2). Google's use of data is described at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
• Apple: App Store purchases, push notifications, maps and Apple Health, under Apple's own privacy policy.

We may also share information if required by law, to protect someone's safety, to investigate abuse or fraud, or as part of a business transfer such as a merger (in which case this policy will continue to apply to your information).

6. How long we keep it

• Your account and profile: until you delete your account.
• Live location during a run: deleted when the run ends.
• Run plans: they stop being shown once the planned time has passed.
• Messages: kept so the conversation stays available to the other people in it; deleted with your account.
• Reports: kept as long as needed to keep the community safe, then deleted.
• Backups held by our hosting provider are removed on their normal schedule.

7. Your choices and rights

• Edit your profile any time in the Me tab.
• Control permissions for location, notifications, Apple Health, contacts and tracking in iPhone Settings.
• Turn off live location sharing or hide your route ends in Me > Safety.
• Block or report anyone from their profile or chat.
• Delete your account in Me > Settings > Account. This deletes your profile, plans, runs, chats and the groups you host. Runs already saved to Apple Health stay there.
• Request a copy of your data, or ask us to correct or delete it, by emailing hi@michie.dev.

Depending on where you live (for example under the Philippines Data Privacy Act of 2012, the GDPR in the EU and UK, or California law), you may have further rights, such as to object to or restrict certain uses, or to complain to your data protection authority. We'll respond to requests within the time the law requires.

8. Security

We use encryption in transit, access controls that limit each person to their own data, and reputable providers to protect your information. No system is completely secure, so please use a strong, unique password.

9. International transfers

Our providers may store and process information in other countries. When they do, we rely on their safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses, to protect it.

10. Age requirement

Pace Friends is for people aged 18 and over, because it helps people meet in person. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe someone under 18 is using Pace Friends, contact us and we'll delete the account.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Pace Friends changes. We'll update the date at the top and, for significant changes, let you know in the app.
